Mini Competitions 2011: Final Results 3 Families Shine |
||
|
Throughout 2011, at each produce sale on Barra,
people have been competing in Mini Competitions and accumulating points to
win trophies at the end of the year.
This is the first year the mini
competitions have run and
a grand total of 77 people took part.
Many more enjoyed coming to the sales and
seeing the wonderful results.
The competitions were:- Handmade Valentines Card,
Mothers Day Menu using Fair Trade and local ingredients,
Decorated egg (boiled or blown), Vegetable
Animal, Poster for the Show, 1 Lettuce, Item made of Shell, Garden Flowers
in a Mug, 3 Fruit Muffins, Halloween Lantern, 4 Scones and Christmas Tree
Decoration.
Eoligarry School were a fantastic support to the
competitions and even had their own leaderboard in school to track the
progress of their pupils throughout the year.
Pupils from the school took 2nd and 3rd in
both the Pre-school - P4 and p5 - S6 sections.
In the adults section it was down to the
very last competition to find out who the winners were - it all depended on
who entered and the placing they got - nail biting stuff!
Eight of the 9 prizes were taken by
members of the same three families - they will be the ones to beat in 2012.
The 2011 Winners are:-
Pre-school to P4: 1st - Jayde Brannigan (320 pts), 2nd - Finlay MacQuarrie
(205 pts), 3rd - Joanna MacNeil (150 pts).
P5 to S6: 1st - Skye Brannigan (365 pts), 2nd - Grace MacQuarrie (210 pts),
3rd - Abaigeal MacNeil (145 pts).
Adults: 1st - Merian MacNeil (265 pts), 2nd - Nick Brannigan (260 pts), 3rd
- Marie Brannigan (220 pts)
These competitions could not have taken place without the sponsors.
So we would very much like to thank them all for there support:-
Barratlantic Ltd, Scottish Co-op Membership, Croft 32,
Gàradh a' Bhàgh a' Tuath,
Isle of Barra Beach Hotel, Croit na h-Aibhne, Aurora Shellfish, MacMillian

We would also like to thank all the judges throughout the year, many
of whom were pounced upon last minute.
