| The Prizes | The Show: An Introduction | |
|
People and companies kindly donated perpetual trophies for the Show.
The Co-chomunn Bharraidh Salver for the Garden Section, Sarah's Office Quaich for the Industrial Section and Barratlantic Cup for the Croft and Fishing Section.
The winners of these trophies are the people who get the most points in that section. Rosettes from 1st to 6th are also awarded. The more classes a person enters means a greater chance of winning a trophy.
The points in each section are then combined and the person with the highest score wins the Macneil and Mrs Macneil of Barra Champion Shield.

The Barra & Vatersay Island Produce Show is now in it’s second year, after a very successful first show in September 2007.
The idea for such an event stemmed from the Barra & Vatersay Agricultural & Horticultural Association which began in 2000 to promote the awareness of local produce and test the potential for local markets. Since then the ‘Producer Group’ have held regular sales, giving islanders the chance to buy and sell their local produce.
It was through the popularity of these sales that the plans for a larger annual event were set out. The Show is based on the same objective as the ‘Producer Group’, that is to raise awareness and promote local produce and skills.
With 210 exhibits in 2007 and more expected this year, it is hoped that the Barra & Vatersay Island Produce Show will continue to go from strength to strength. |
